❤️ Human Heart – Simple Explanation
π« What is the Heart?
The human heart is a muscular organ about the size of your fist. It works like a pump that circulates blood throughout the body, supplying oxygen and nutrients and removing waste products.
π§ Location
Located in the chest (thoracic cavity)
Slightly tilted toward the left side
Protected by the rib cage
π️ Structure of the Heart
The heart has 4 chambers:
Right Atrium (RA)
Receives deoxygenated blood from the body
Right Ventricle (RV)
Pumps blood to the lungs
Left Atrium (LA)
Receives oxygenated blood from lungs
Left Ventricle (LV)
Pumps oxygen-rich blood to the entire body
πͺ Heart Valves (Control Blood Flow)
Tricuspid Valve – between RA and RV
Pulmonary Valve – between RV and lungs
Mitral (Bicuspid) Valve – between LA and LV
Aortic Valve – between LV and aorta
π These valves prevent backflow of blood.
π Blood Flow Through the Heart
Body → Right Atrium
Right Atrium → Right Ventricle
Right Ventricle → Lungs (gets oxygen)
Lungs → Left Atrium
Left Atrium → Left Ventricle
Left Ventricle → Body
π This is called double circulation.
⚙️ Functions of the Heart

Maintains blood pressure
